Davide Cottarelli - CEO & Founder
With a Master’s Degree in PR and a major in Marketing Communications Davide has more than 15 years of investment experience. He is an Associate Member of the Chartered Security investment Institute and a fully qualified Stockbroker, CFD, FX and Commodities Trader.
His experience includes projects in the City of £100m+ for stock brokerage houses, FX brokering, and introducing businesses to many top prime dealer brokers, and investment banks.
The culmination of his success led to Davide founding in 2011 a boutique investment company called Varcale Capital Management Ltd bringing alternative investments to HNWI & UHNWI.
Varcale is a leading a boutique investment company in alternative investments with a focus in films, and Davide is also an Executive Producer of the film “The Exorcism of Anna Ecklund” which is still America’s most famous case of possession. He is also a joint founder of the new China UK Film Fund which is a historic new venture with seed investment of £50 million rising to £1.5 billion by 2020.
Davide is also a committed benefactor of BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television Arts) and their initiatives for developing the stars of the future in the UK & China, both in front of the camera and behind it. Through his generous philanthropic support, he is recognised as an Ambassador of the organisation and a vocal advocate for charitable initiatives in the Arts.

Fabio Ponzellini - Director
Fabio graduated from Bologna, School of Economics and Commerce in 1998 and also gained a Masters in Communication from the Chamber of Commerce of Bologna. He has extensive corporate experience gained from high profile positions in different sectors.
He began his career as Team Manager of Virtus Pallacanestro Bologna one of the most valuable Basketball Teams in Italy. During this tenure, the club won three Italian Cups, one Italian Championship and one Euro League Cup, with Fabio being instrumental to the team’s success.
Later in his career, Fabio became the Head of Sales and Board Member of the oldest Printing Company in Italy, based in Bologna. Under Fabio’s leadership the company, Compositori Industrie Grapiche doubled its turnover in just three years. Fabio then joined Yu S.P.A an independent, multi-agent intermediary that handled insurance, financial products and services to the industry as a Relationship Manager and Partner of the company. Fabio had responsibility for key clients and then worked his way up to become Vice President and CEO of the Company.
In 2016, Fabio joined the board of Varcale Capital Management as a Director which is a position he brings a wealth of connections to from the fields of sport, finance and business.

Luca Marchi - Head of External Relations, EMEA
Luca Marchi is Bloomberg’s Head of External Relations. His role consists in developing communications between governments, central banks, financial associations, regulators and high level executives in the financial industry in order to help the core business establish closer links to the major players in established and emerging financial markets. A position appointed to him in 2007.
Luca Marchi’s service with the firm dates back to 1991 where he was initially recruited as a Sales Executive, gradually progressing to Team Leader and, in 1994, Sales Manager, responsible for Southern Europe (Italy, Spain, Portugal, France), Switzerland and Emerging Markets. During this time, he managed a successful sales team of 50 people, in addition to exceeding personal and team revenue targets by achieving top sales growth rates. In 2004, Luca Marchi was named Head of Branding for EMEA, where he built partnerships with top companies leading to co-branding projects in fashion/retail (Selfridges), Media and Transport (Eurostar and British Airways).
Luca Marchi received his BSc (Hons) in Business and Economics at the University of Rome ‘La Sapienza’ in 1989. In 1990, he completed his MBA at the University of Rome ‘Tor Vergata’. Luca Marchi has excellent linguistic proficiency in Italian, English, German and Spanish.
David Grumbach - Producer / Distribution Advisor
CEO of BAC Films and a film Producer for more than 11 years he has produced more than 30 International Films with 8 having won the Palm d’Or at Cannes Film Festival.
As MD of Lux Cinema Fund he has been involved in the Leisure Seeker the new Road movie with Helen Mirren & Donald Sutherland which is Directed by Paolo Virzi, and BAC Films are handling international sales for this film at Cannes Film Festival 2017.
BAC Films are also distributing the new film Jackie starring Nathalie Portman which won a BAFTA Award for Costume Design beating a host of other top films in the category. BAC Films have a team of 30 headquartered in Paris, and David is an experienced film producer assisting us with Film project selection.
Tom Linden - Music Creative Director
Tom is a London based German film composer and music producer. He has worked on a variety of independent and commercial films releases, including The Anomaly, The Hooligan Factory, Urban Hymn, Legacy, Brotherhood, Chicken and Scottish Mussel.
He is also known for the Theme and Title Music for Channel 5's News, re branding the entire Food network and much of the Incidental Music for Top Gear along with many Adverts Worldwide and also Desperate Housewives, Green Wing and Chandni Chowk to China.
Tom’s background as a Music Producer has led him to work with established Artists such as dance giants Basement Jaxx. By recording with top musicians at many of the most prestigious studios in London, he creates innovative compositions with the highest sound quality & mixing techniques.

Richard Blackford - Composer / Creative Associate
Richard Blackford’s music has been performed and broadcast all over the world and has been featured in the Adelaide, Cork, Montepulciano, Brighton, Cheltenham, Long Island, Delphi, Aberystwyth, Presteigne and Berlin Festivals. It has been recorded on Sony Classical, Decca, Warner Classics, Champs Hill and Nimbus Records. He is the recipient of several awards including First Prize at the Houston Film Festival, The Royal Television Society Award, the Mendelssohn Scholarship and the Tagore Gold Medal.
In 2000 he wrote a four-hour choral and orchestral score for CNN/BBC Millennium, which won an Emmy Award for Best Title Sequence and for which Richard was nominated for Outstanding Achievement in Music.
His collaborators include Ted Hughes, Maya Angelou, Tony Harrison, Sir Richard Eyre, Dame Ninette de Valois, William Tuckett and Alistair Beaton. In 2015 he was awarded Die Goldene Deutschland in recognition of services to music in Germany along with Placido Domingo and Diana Damrau.
He was appointed Composer In Residence at Balliol College Oxford, and later Composer in Residence for the Brno Philharmonic. He taught at LAMDA before being appointed Director of Music at The Royal Ballet School. During that time he conducted the premiere of his ballet Plea To Autumn, with texts by Dame Ninette de Valois, at the Royal Opera House. Thereafter he worked extensively in theatre and his credits include: The Pig Organ (Royal Opera House), The Prince’s Play (Royal National Theatre), King (Piccadilly Theatre), Follow My Leader (Birmingham Rep and Hampstead Theatre), Fram (Royal National Theatre). Feature film credits include City of Joy, Prometheus and Song For A Raggy Boy, the latter winning eleven international film festival awards.
He also composed for television, with credits including the acclaimed BBC BAFTA-nominated drama Fingersmith, A Little Bit Of Lippy, Summer Solstice, Ruth Rendell Mysteries, 1940s House, Family, Finding Sarah, Preston Front and The Shell Seekers, as well as over one hundred television drama features for Germany’s ZDF.
Paul Eyres - Director, Del Rey Entertainment
Paul has over 25 years of extensive experience in feature film distribution, production and film finance. In this time Paul has worked with producers and investors in both the United Kingdom and United States on production, distribution and risk assessment of their investments into feature film and television projects.
Prior to founding Del Rey Entertainment, Paul jointly ran MMG Corporate in Los Angeles as its C.O.O., a division of Forbes and Manhattan Merchant Bank based in Toronto. Paul worked to commercially restructure the MMG group of companies, including two post-production facilities (Los Angeles/Toronto) and a visual effects house in Los Angeles, using the model to invest in feature film and television.
Paul spent 10 years’ prior between London and Los Angeles working and consulting in international film acquisitions, distribution, feature film development and film production on budgets between $1 million to $25 million in range. He also worked alongside several US banks and investment companies in risk assessment for feature film funding, within this time green lighting over 30 films.
Paul has also guest spoken at UCLA on its Film Distribution class and worked with many clients, such as the UK film fund Flashpoint and US production outfit The Bubble Factory, owned by ex MCA/Universal chairman Sidney Sheinberg.
Paul is currently attached to the several films in an Executive Producer/ Producer capacity and continues to advise select clients through his own film advisory firm.
Chris Rolfe - Director, Del Rey Entertainment
With a background of over 10 years in commercial investment and retail development Chris moved into film investment in 2006 managing the business process on several productions across film and music videos.
Chris is currently active in various areas of the industry from feature production structure and set up, to also managing a library of UK rights that he acquired and are currently being handled and distributed via Fremantle Media, one of the largest television companies in the world.
Chris is also involved in a Producer capacity on several feature film projects being produced in 2017 including A Fairytale in New York, starring Kiefer Sutherland and Stray Voltage starring Catherine Zeta Jones.
David Jones - Advisor, Del Rey Entertainment
After studying photography and film, David embarked on a career in film and television relocating from Wales to Los Angeles.
In 1998 David started work for the then nascent Initial Entertainment Group, a finance and foreign distribution company owned by Graham King. Within the company, David worked his way up from development executive to Vice President of Acquisitions and Production.
In this role, David was instrumental in acquiring and developing the rights to several successful projects that the company financed and produced, including Traffic directed by Stephen Soderburgh and Gangs of New York directed by Martin Scorsese.
He also served as executive producer on several successful projects such as, Robert Altman's Dr.T and the Women staring Richard Gere and The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys, starring and produced by Jodie Foster.
David currently resides in Los Angeles where he is attached to several high-end studio projects and runs Milkwood Films, a production company he co-owns with his sister Catherine Zeta-Jones.
Neil McEwan - Advisor, Del Rey Entertainment
Neil McEwan has worked in the Entertainment Industry for 50 years, for the first 12 years in the music industry with Polygram (now Universal) before joining the world’s leading film company; Warner Bros for a 25-year career.
Working primarily in the U.K. he gained extensive experience managing new releases as well as the monetisation of the film and TV library of some 5,000+ films, on behalf of Warner Bros, HBO, Walt Disney, MGM, Turner, United Artists, Lionsgate and Icon amongst others.
Major franchises represented included; Batman, Harry Potter, Superman, Friends, James Bond and The Sopranos.
He was Managing Director of the U.K. and Ireland for 7 years when annual turnover was $400 million with marketing spend of c. $40 million p.a. Amongst his duties was a seat on the ‘Greenlighting’ committee for Warner Bros U.K.
Neil held senior board positions on various Trade bodies for over 10 years, including Anti-Piracy and Government liaison and was the recipient of a special award for services to the Industry.
Since leaving Warner Bros Neil has consulted extensively on Digital and New Media as well as Acquisitions and in addition has successfully co-financed and co-produced $2 million of Independent films.
Andy Harwood - Advisor, Del Rey Entertainment
Andy Harwood is a media professional with over 30 years’ experience. He has held senior roles in media companies covering distribution, licensing, finance and rights management.
Since 2007 Andy, has been working at Compact Media, the largest independent rights management company servicing Film, TV & Music clients. His expertise includes deal structuring, rights and revenue management and royalty auditing for the 700+ media clients that the company represents.
Prior to Compact, Andy worked with Prism Leisure Corporation, a successful entertainment distribution company as part of the Acquisitions team in its feature film & music division, assessing purchases and licensing rights, helping to make it at the time one of the top 10 companies in UK home entertainment.
Before Prism Leisure, Andy spent 10 years at Universal Music working with artist management overseeing the royalty, licensing and auditing divisions.
Tony Taglienti - Director, Del Rey Entertainment
Tony has over 30 years’ experience in acquisition, production and publishing in the international home video market. He was directly instrumental in bringing the FIFA World Cup to the global video market for the first time ever and held the exclusive international home video rights for several of the FIFA & UEFA Championships.
Tony came into the home video market in its infancy and helped develop the special interest sector of the home video market that included everything from sport to fitness to wild life to music and children’s programming and over recent years, feature films of every genre and budget.
Over the years Tony has worked with countless licensors of every size in Europe and on both sides of the Atlantic including FIFA, UEFA, National Geographic, Turner Broadcasting, Discovery, NBC, Universal Studios, MGM, Saban, Telescreen, ITV, BBC, to mention just a few.
Tony is Managing Director of 4Digital Media Ltd that has a third party distribution agreement with Sony Pictures Home Entertainment (SPHE) in North America and the UK. Other key territories are open to 4DM on a film-by-film, territory-by-territory basis. SPHE will handle all sales for all media, or whatever rights 4DM hold, excluding theatrical. 4DM's distribution deal is unique as it’s currently the only UK based label that SPHE have signed.
Robert Graham - Film Accountant / Tax Advisor EIS SEIS
Rob has been an Accountant for over 23 years and is a member of the EIS Association.
He has worked on more than 30 films internationally and specialises in ensuring investors enjoy the best available tax incentives by financially managing the investment and minimising the risk.
As a member of the Enterprise Investment Scheme Association, recognised by HM Treasury, he is committed to excellence in creating sound tax efficient investment schemes. Rob has provided financial contractual advice to major international film and television organisations and talent agencies and is based in Wales, London and Los Angeles.
Graham has built a reputation for honesty and total transparency both in the UK and in the US working on over 30 films with varying budgets ranging from the lower end to multi million pound projects in the UK and internationally.
Rob is a director of several film production companies in the UK and US and is also personal accountant to several well-known British actors, TV personalities and international talent and is a Patron of the anti-knife and gun crime charity The Ben Kinsella Trust.

Ben has acted as an accountant, financial adviser, corporate financier and tax adviser for more than twenty two years.
Previously a partner in one of Manchester’s leading regional accountancy practices, Ben founded a private client accountancy and corporate finance practice, White & Company, in November 2008.

With over 25 years’ experience in Film and Television sales, distribution and development, Brad has a comprehensive understanding of all aspects of the UK and Worldwide entertainment media market, incorporating, film, television, music and electronic games.
His expertise lies within filmed content sales, distribution and business development, with experience of Marketing, rights control finance and film production servicing.
Prior to joining Transition Digital Media, Brad was Head of sales for ITV Global Entertainment, where he was responsible for the sales and distribution of the ITV catalogue incorporating TV and Feature Films.
Prior to heading up ITV Global Entertainment, Brad was the UK Commercial Director of Fremantle Media, where he controlled UK and international film license acquisitions and distribution.
John Eyres - Advisor, Del Rey Entertainment
John Eyres turned to film production in 1990 and successfully built up a career as a filmmaker in his native Britain, where he founded the film company EGM Film International Ltd.
EGM quickly became a recognised force on the world market as one of the most prolific independent distribution and production companies to come out of the United Kingdom. Eyres acted as producer/director on many of the projects. The financial and critical success of these films allowed him to move his operation to California. The first picture which EGM and Eyres produced and financed in the US was, a Sci-fi Action/Adventure shot in Los Angeles which featured an all-star Oscar winning cast, including: Bill Paxton, Lindsay Frost, John Hurt and Louis Gossett, Jr. The movie was a financial success throughout the world with the U.S being distributed by Universal. John has been involved in over $150 million dollars of production and has become expertly knowledgeable in tax driven Co-productions in which he has personally raised over $40 million in active funding.
John directed the independent teen horror movie, RIPPER: LETTER FROM HELL. The movie proved to be a commercial U.S. success for LIONS GATE and sold out theatrically to every other country in the world. John also co-wrote and directed an $11 million USD comedy starring Eddie Griffin, Anna Friel and Oscar winner Mo’Nique Imes Jackson, distributed through Universal.
John, has many years of unique experience and invaluable connections in the film community and a unique awareness of the creative side of the industry. He is president of Transfilm Entertainment Inc Ontario which has a production deal with Luc Besson and Europacorp one of the most prolific production companies in the world. Transfilm recently completed the 2016 movies Nine Lives starring Kevin Spacy, Shut In starring Naomi Watts and Miss Sloane with Jessica Chastain (Golden Globe nomination).
John has also been the subject of a BBC documentary on his life and career as a filmmaker.
Steve Beecham - Distribution Advisor
Steve has over 23 years’ experience in the media arena from publishing to licensing. As the Former General Manager at Universal Studios UK he contributed to 163% growth in back catalogue turnover over a 3 year period.
Edmund Tuckett - Business Development Manager
From an early age, he was exposed to the TV & theatre industry as his second cousin was Jill Day the actress, singer and writer known for: The Jill Day Show, All for Mary, Pantomina, or It Was Never Like This and who also represented the United Kingdom in the 1957 Eurovision Song Contest.
Edmunds past experience includes working on a television adapted script under Constance Cox (past jury member of the Cannes Film Festival) one of the first writers to adapt for television and a prolific playwright. He also worked alongside radio playwrights on new scripts at a theatre group in Brighton & Hove, and still retains strong links with local playwright groups in the Sussex area.
Edmund has 8 years’ experience in alternative investments advising HNWI in the UK & Asia. Prior to joining Varcale Entertainment he worked for a leading alternative investment company as a Portfolio Manager generating investment from his extensive network of investors. Edmund leads the Business Development Team and is passionate film fan who gained his knowledge from his mother who is an actress.
He is a graduate from the University of Brighton Business school.
